So it's Thursday night, don't believe the date above this entry, it's actually still Thursday, and I had my opening night for the theater piece that I am in. I mentioned earlier that I am in one of the Theater Senior Projects. In particular it is called Pharmakos and it was envisioned, written and directed by Sydndey McClune. All of us had some input on different sections of the piece as a whole. In any case, we've been rehearsing for quite some time now and it finally paid off tonight when we played to an actual audience for the very first time. There is nothing in the world like the feeling that you get from an opening night performance: the butterflies as we are warming up and getting into character, the jitters from that first entrance, the feeling that you get from having a live audience react to what you are saying. I think that my favorite part about this show is that it was outside and very site specific. We perform the piece in the carriage turn-around that is on campus. I have always enjoyed performing outside in the open air. One of the coolest opportunities afforded to us by being outside, is that we could have burn barrels, and fire dancers and torches all over the place. I have a few pictures from the performance. My friend Jesse took tons of amazing pictures during our dress rehearsal earlier in the week but I haven't been able to get them from him yet. As soon as I do I will put the good ones online for you guys to see.
Sorry all I've talked about is theater stuff. That's basically what has been taking over my life recently. This weekend, both our mens and womens Ultimate Frisbee teams (Bachaus and Artemis respectively) are heading down to Davis California for the DIII regional championships. Both teams qualified two weeks ago at sectionals. Should be pretty exciting. I'll let you know how they do.
The end of the semester is rolling around and finals are just around the corner. Also around the corner is our a cappella concert next week on the 1st. There will definitely be youtube videos of everything online shortly after the concert. We have three or four new songs that we are going to debut at the concert. I can't wait.
That's all for now. As always, jlota@lclark.edu is a quick way to reach me. Stay safe everyone.
