Real Life, by Jaymie Cox Saturday, January 24, 2004What I did on my winter break
I couldn't resist this title. Sort of reminiscent of my HS days...haha. I don't know. Break was good, really short though. At least it seemed like it. I went to Redmond (Ore.) to visit my best friend, who had taken the semester off and was living with her parents down there. From there I went to Longview, stayed there and celebrate Christmas, which was a lot of fun and God has blessed our family. We were all able to be together, so that was nice. A couple days later, I came back to Portland for Winter Conference, which is put on by Campus Crusade for Christ. Then it was back to Longview for less than a week before we were planning on going to Spokane. This is where the problem came. It snowed the last day of conference so I needed chains to get from Lloyd Center to campus and then to get down off the hill (our fun name for campus at times…I’ll explain more later) on my way to the airport the next morning. I got home (in Longview) a good time later due to it starting to really snow again about the time I hit Vancouver (Wash.). That was interesting. From there, it didn’t really stop snowing. About the same time my dad and I were going to leave for Spokane, they closed I-84, which would lead us south and then east, and I-90, north then east. So we were stuck. The Portland airport was shut down for three days and Sea-Tac (Seattle-Tacoma) airport was closed for a day or so. It was chaos here. There are rumors that we are supposed to get hit once again before the spring season comes, hum…we’ll see about that.
When I went to Spokane, I saw that my brother had gotten a little 8-week old Golden Retriever puppy plus we had the cat he gave his girlfriend for Christmas and our two other dogs and my cat that we’ve had for awhile. It was a regular zoo. But, I did get pictures. I had fun with the little guy, who is named Kody. The cat, which regularly woke me up at 4am, is named Ashes. I did get a lot of my filming done, which lots of help from Michael Holloman at the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture (check them out at www.northwestmuseum.org).
Hum, but that's it. I really didn't have that interesting of break. I got to see my brother play basketball at Reardan HS. He's a senior there so it was good to see him play.
Ok, that's it. Really. Be good, have fun and make brownies for someone.
