Real Life, by Chris Leong Thursday, May 6, 2004All Good Things...
All good things must come to an end, so they say. Besides being the title of the final episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, it's a pretty fitting way to end the year.
Ironically enough, this will probably be the shortest post I've ever written. It's like...you can't dwell on things like endings too much. You just have to experience them, and let them play out as they will. Experiences and memories are far more powerful than words could ever be, even for a writer. If there's one thing you should take from me this year, it's that, in a nutshell.
One of the most important things I've learned--in fact, probably the single most important thing I've learned, not only this semester but in life in general--is to live in the moment. Live life to the fullest with no regrets. Cliche it might be, but it's true regardless, and it's a piece of advice I share freely with you all out there.
And I can't say that I have any, at least not after this semester. Not because I've solidified my academic plans (two study abroad trips and a probable honors thesis for the Foreign Languages major). Not because I've been to Idaho and back. Not because I have had one hell of a time with some of the most awesome people in the world being a part of Lu'au, International Fair, Kotaro's Senior Project, and other things. No, not because of any of those things, but because of all of those things. They say in college you will do things you never imagined possible. After the last eight months, and in particular the last four, I can speak from personal experience--in fact, from a lot of personal experience--to tell you all that there is no greater truth than the truth in that one sentence.
But besides my random philosophizing, there's actually a more pressing, more practical reason for the brevity of this post: I'M GOING HOME TOMORROW AND I NEED TO FINISH PACKING!!!!!!!
Heh. You didn't think this whole post was going to be sappy and serious, did you?
Enjoy the pictures! Enjoy the summer! Thank you for letting me share my life with you this past school year.
